GPR for the intervention
and correction of
scoliosis in children
and adults

Scoliosis is a four-dimensional morphological deformity of the spine. The vertebrae are tilted in the frontal plane, rotated in the axial plane, directed into posteroflexion within the sagittal plane, and have a crushing mechanism; these 4 behaviors of scoliosis are treated in the GPR Souchard

I have opted for Fisiopostura GPR to apply the GPR method in conjunction with functional dentistry where two major areas are part of this interdisciplinary group, one of them is the oral rehabilitation expert in function, where from the placement of stops or TEF seeks to relocate the position of the temporomandibular disc, exercise good coordination and function in the jaw, balance the forces in the muscles of mastication, airway among others; and the other area of this interdisciplinary group is functional orthodontics.

  • Before starting the treatment from functional dentistry, a few sessions of (1) GPR Souchard are performed to improve joint mobility, posture, respiratory capacity through the diaphragm, functionality, and if possible reduce degrees of scoliosis; to the point of favoring a better position of the head, neck, and jaw.

  • After improving the posture from the GPR, we continue with the education that makes (2) functional oral rehabilitation to balance the muscular loads and coordinate the temporomandibular movements, at the time of chewing, breathing, and walking; supported by some stops or TEF (see image) that will favor the application of these tasks reeducated by the oral rehabilitator.

  • The third area of intervention will be (3) functional orthodontics applied conscientiously to favor the position of dental arches and bite without losing what has been gained in oral rehabilitation (temporomandibular condyle position) and the GPR Souchard physiotherapeutic method.

  • Once oral rehabilitation has begun, it is recommended to attend one or two sessions of GPR every month and a half to eliminate the compensations made by the muscular, articular, and bony systems; in this way, we will seek GPR Souchard to reduce as much as possible the degrees of scoliosis, until healthier physiological curves of the spine are achieved. The above also applies when the patient undergoes orthodontic surgery.

  • The oculomotor system (eye muscles) is also taken into account in the treatment of GPR Souchard applied to scoliosis and other postural and musculoskeletal diseases. We combine Souchard GPR with the intervention of orthoptics (professional expert in visual rehabilitation), thus seeking postural correction and rehabilitation of the injury relapses.
